Initially providing advice to small businesses and individuals in the 1980s, Bentleys Newcastle later developed a niche providing audit services to small sporting clubs and RSLs. Their current growth focuses on small to medium business, providing advice in all aspects of running a small business.

Before becoming a Director of Bentleys Newcastle, Chris Dumas spent 8 years with the Office of State Revenue as a payroll tax auditor. Through this experience and the position he holds as lead auditor of a related business that audits workers’ compensation premiums, Chris possesses a wealth of knowledge in the area of deemed workers and grouping for payroll tax and workers’ compensation. Chris also specialises in taxation advice, tax effective business structures and capital gains.

Director Richard McArtney was a business owner in the rag trade for a number of years so has firsthand experience of what some of Bentleys Newcastle’s clients go through in terms of cashflow peaks and troughs, employing staff and dealing with anxious bankers.

Frontline business ownership also gave Richard a solid grounding in small business accounting packages such as MYOB, Quickbooks and Xero.
Richard has recently begun specialising in business valuations, budgeting and performance analysis.
